The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking a lawyer with litigation experience to join the Civil Division’s Litigation Unit
DUTIES: The Litigation Unit represents the Province in civil litigation and administrative law matters. Civil litigators appear before all levels of court in the province, as well as the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own caseload. Duties will include drafting pleadings, briefs, affidavits and other legal duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Practicing status with the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is required. Candidates must have knowledge and experience with civil litigation, and should demonstrate effective decision making/judgment, analytical, organizational and communication abilities. Applicants must also exhibit an ability to take initiative, build and maintain positive working relationships and demonstrate leadership.
