SUMMARY:Limitations Periods: What a Litigator Needs to Know

Doors open at 12:30 pm. \nSeminar Overview\nThis seminar will provide a practical overview of the Newfoundland and Labrador limitations scheme for the civil litigator: when limitation periods begin to run\, when they stop running\, and when they expire; discoverability; procedural considerations and pitfalls; how to assess the limitation of an action; and the limitation issues that arise in particular practices like personal injury\, estates\, and professional negligence. The seminar will also explain recent limitations jurisprudence from the Supreme Court of Canada and the Newfoundland and Labrador courts. \nIn-house capacity restrictions related to COVID have been lifted and in person attendance is encouraged where possible. \nDan Zacks\nPrincipal – Zacks Law\nDan is a Toronto-based civil litigator with a focus on lawyers’ professional negligence\, commercial disputes\, and insurance coverage.
