DESCRIPTION:Join the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) St. Johns\, Toronto and Victoria Chapters in welcoming Nathan Lemay and Katrina Ingram in discussing Privacy Certifications: Tips Tricks and Lessons Learned.  This virtual session is scheduled for Friday\, March 15\, 2024\, 1-2:30 pm NL time. This session is open to all and is FREE of charge – you do not even need to be an IAPP member. But you do have \nAbout the Session \nHave you been struggling to decide on which privacy certifications to pursue or in what sequence? Nathan\, Katrina and Lori will facilitate a discussion based on their own experiences that may help you chart your own professional development journey. There will be plenty of time for Q &A so please come prepared to join in the conversation. \nNathan Lemay is a Senior Privacy Engineer at Amazon. In addition to holding four certifications\, he maintains The Privacy Practitioner\, a website dedicated to providing resources to privacy professionals. \nKatrina Ingram is the Founder and CEO of Ethically Aligned AI\, a company focused on helping organizations to drive better outcomes in the design\, development and deployment of AI systems. A seasoned executive\, Katrina has over two decades of experience running both not for profit and corporate organizations in the technology and media sectors as well as experience in the public sector. She is a member of DAMA (data management professionals) and volunteers with several AI ethics organizations. She was named to the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics list. Katrina holds an undergrad in business administration from Simon Fraser University\, a master of arts in communications and technology from the University of Alberta and is an IAPP certified information privacy professional (CIPP/C). She combines her love of audio and interest in AI as the host of the podcast\, AI4Society Dialogues. Katrina developed Canada’s first micro-credential in AI Ethics in partnership with Athabasca University. She currently teaches at the University of Alberta and MacEwan University as a sessional instructor. She is a member of the Calgary Police Services Technology Ethics Committee and recently served as the City of Edmonton’s Data Ethics Advisor. \nLori Collins (moderator) is an instructor with the College of the North Atlantic. She is passionate about providing her students with a solid foundation to prepare them for Information and Privacy Analyst roles. Facilitating networking opportunities\, delivering training and organizing communities of practice are a priority for Lori. She is the Chair of the St. John’s IAPP KnowledgeNet and a member of the Privacy and Access Council of Canada.
