SUMMARY:Respectful Workplaces: Strategies for a Healthy Environment
DESCRIPTION:A respectful workplace is a prerequisite for building a healthy and successful organization. Respectful workplaces not only foster productivity\, they also contribute to employee well-being. This workshop explores the components of respect and addresses individual responsibilities within the work environment. Participants will learn how to voice their expectations as well as initiate and respond to difficult conversations about disrespectful behaviour. He has in-depth experience supporting individuals\, organizations\, and communities experiencing unhealthy work environments\, bullying\, trauma\, and mental health concerns. Paul believes the key to facilitating critical conversations is to do so in a nonthreatening manner so that individuals and organizations feel heard and supported. As a trainer\, he delivers practical\, applicable information in an approachable\, humorous\, and engaging presentation style.

SUMMARY:FREE Training: Join the Journey Project Legal Support Service Lawyer Roster
DESCRIPTION:The Journey Project Legal Support Service (JPLSS) is a collaboration between the Journey Project team and private practice lawyers who are interested in providing trauma-informed legal support to survivors of sexual violence and intimate partner violence in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Journey Project is actively seeking lawyers to join their Legal Support Service lawyer roster. \nLawyers on the roster complete paid consultations with survivors in areas of law in which they practice or are comfortable providing legal advice. Lawyers who wish to participate in this program must participate in a free half-day training session on trauma-informed lawyering. \nThis training is being offered in-person at the Law Society on Wednesday\, May 21\, from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a virtual option available for lawyers outside the northeast Avalon. This session offers a unique opportunity to build the skills and knowledge of legal professionals and make practicing lawyers eligible to join the Journey Project Legal Support Service. \nTraining will cover: \n\nidentifying and understanding trauma and its impacts\nthe neurobiology of trauma\nrationale and principles of trauma-informed lawyering\ntrauma-informed responses to disclosures\nburnout\, empathic strain\, and vicarious trauma\n\nThis seminar is free and\, *subject to the provisions of the Law Society’s Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Requirements\, may constitute 3.5 hours of eligible CLE activities.
