DESCRIPTION:Get started on training to become a Family Law Mediator \nThursday and Friday\, September 18 and 19\, 2025\n9:00 am – 5:30 pm (both days)\nvia webinar only \nPlease note: This course will not be added to Courses on Demand.  Courses involving professional speakers and skills-based workshops generally do not get added to Courses on Demand. \nWho should attend: All those wishing to enhance their insight and skills in negotiation and mediation. This course is essential for new family mediators and those attending mediations as counsel. \nLearning level: Fundamental \nThis course will introduce participants to the theory and practice of negotiation and mediation. It will also give participants an understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute resolution. \nFor those wishing to become Family Law Mediators under the Family Law Act\, this is the first course in our 80-hour curriculum. \nThis course will count for 16 hours of mediation training and will include exercises and role-playing in both negotiation and mediation settings. \nPlease note: This course is offered remotely through a Zoom platform. SUMMARY:National Conference on Public Legal Education and Access to Justice
DESCRIPTION:Public Legal Education Association of Canada (PLEAC) along with Jessica Reekie\, Executive Director at Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO)\, and Julie Mathews\, CLEO’s former Executive Director\, are planning PLEAC’s upcoming national conference on public legal education and access to justice. \nWe’re excited to share both a Save the Date and a Call for Proposals for this event\, which will take place in Ottawa\, Ontario\, on February 18-19\, 2026\, with an additional day on February 20\, 2026\, dedicated to producers of public legal education and information. \nWe hope you’ll mark your calendars and also share this open call with your colleagues and networks who may be interested in attending or submitting a proposal! \nTo submit a proposal\, please complete this application form by Friday\, October 10\, 2025. \nWe welcome proposals that highlight practical tools and strategies\, emerging research\, or collaborative approaches in public legal education and access to justice\, such as: \n\nUsing evolving technologies effectively\, including interactive tools and generative AI\nUsing data in a practical way to inform and improve public legal education work\nExperiences with and strategies for connecting with rural and remote\, and Indigenous communities\nSupporting the critical justice-related work being done on the front lines by non-lawyer community workers across Canada\n\nIf you don’t yet have all the session details\, please submit as much information as you can and we’ll follow up as needed.
