DESCRIPTION:Trauma is prevalent in our world and has an impact on many of the people we interact with\, including those who engage with our organizations. Compassionate and trauma-informed care is essential to providing effective support and building sustainable services. Based on our book\, A Little Book About Trauma-Informed Workplaces\, this workshop explores five key principles to integrate a trauma-informed approach throughout the organization. By embracing these principles\, participants can better contribute to the positive transformation of individuals and relationships affected by trauma. Monica has worked both in clinical settings for various programs and served in a leadership role as Director of Clinical Practice\, providing her expertise to clinical and non-clinical programs that focus on family preservation and reunification\, complex intergenerational trauma\, trauma-informed practice\, and clinical supervision. In addition to training with CTRI\, she has a private counselling practice where she incorporates somatic work\, play and expressive therapies\, and interpersonal neurobiology in her work with children\, youth\, and adults. Monica believes in the power of human resiliency and the importance of building the capacity of paraprofessionals and non-clinical workers because they play a vital role on the therapy spectrum. DESCRIPTION:Critical incident group debriefing (CIGD) is a short-term intervention designed to support people after a distressing or unusual event – something that falls outside of everyday experience and challenges our ability to cope. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn how to facilitate a group debriefing and create a safe space where your participants can share their experiences\, feel heard\, and access helpful resources. The process helps normalize and validate people’s reactions\, which promotes healing and connection. \nYou’ll also gain the skills to assess when CIGD is the right approach – and when it might not be the best option. He is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree. John is a contributing author of our Counselling Insights and Counselling in Relationships books. Much of John’s career has centred on working with children\, youth\, adults\, and families dealing with crisis and trauma. While he has a diverse practice\, he has particular interest and specialized experience in working with individuals and families impacted by mental health concerns\, violence\, post-war trauma recovery\, gender/sexuality issues\, and sexual abuse recovery. John’s work is also informed by his international experiences working with individuals and communities impacted by civil war and ethnic conflicts in Colombia\, Albania\, and Northern Ireland. John believes people are their own best experts and already have many of the skills\, abilities\, and competencies that will assist them to address the challenges influencing their lives. DESCRIPTION:Thursday and Friday\, April 15 and 16\, 2027\n9:00 am – 5:30 pm (both days)\nattend via webinar \nLimited enrolment. Register early to avoid disappointment! \nPlease note: This course will not be added to Courses on Demand.  Courses involving professional speakers and skills-based workshops generally do not get added to Courses on Demand. \nWho should attend: All those wishing to enhance their mediation skills and understanding. This course is essential for new family mediators. \nLearning level: Advanced \nThe fourth and final course in CLEBC’s Family Law Mediation curriculum\, this program will focus on issues such as bias and impartiality\, ethical issues in mediation\, high-conflict personalities\, culture\, co-mediation\, and multiparty disputes. \nFor those wishing to become Family Law Mediators under the Family Law Act\, this is the final course in our 80-hour curriculum. \nThis course will count for 16 hours of mediation training and will include exercises and role-plays in mediation settings. \nPlease note: This course is offered remotely through a Zoom platform. A device equipped with a camera and microphone will be required to participate. \nPrerequisites:\n \n\nIntroduction to Family Dispute Resolution or equivalent training\nFamily Law Mediation Fundamentals or equivalent training\nLevel 2 – Intermediate Family Law Mediation or equivalent training\n\nThis course would be the appropriate course for those who have completed Family Law Mediation Levels 1\, 2 & 3 under our previous curriculum design.
