Summary

TAKE NOTICE THAT on April 25, 2006, pursuant to section 48(3) of the Law Society Act, 1999 an Adjudication Panel of the Discipline Committee of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador found Janice E. Kitchen of Doyles, NL, guilty of conduct deserving of sanction.

Ms. Kitchen entered a guilty plea to the Complaint that she had failed to act with integrity and to avoid questionable conduct and had failed to provide a quality of service consistent with the standard of conduct contemplated by the Code of Professional Conduct.

Ms. Kitchen’s appeal of the Adjudication Panel decision on the issue of sanction was heard by Benchers pursuant to section 53(4) of the Law Society Act, 1999.

AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT on April 25, 2006, the Benchers of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador ordered that Janice E. Kitchen be suspended for a period of fifteen (15) months retroactive to April 25, 2006 and imposed conditions upon Ms. Kitchen’s right to return to practice.
