Authorized by Provincial Legislation to protect the public interest, the Law Society is funded by lawyers’ fees and is governed by Benchers (essentially a Board of Directors) which contains both lawyer (elected) and public (appointed) representatives. This team is supported by a full-time Executive Director and staff.
Together, we strive to ensure that lawyers are providing the highest quality of service to the public by establishing best practice standards, providing educational opportunities, supporting public access to legal information and advice, by providing access to research and by encouraging and facilitating lawyers’ participation in pro-bono legal clinics.
