International Women’s Day – March 8, 2024

March 8, 2024 marks the 113th anniversary of the first gathering to honour International Women’s Day, which is a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and girls.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2024 “Inspire Inclusion” signifies a call to action to promote and foster inclusivity for women of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. It encourages individuals and organizations to actively embrace diversity, equity, and belonging in all aspects of society, including workplaces, communities, and institutions. “Inspire Inclusion” highlights the importance of creating environments where every woman feels valued, respected, and empowered to fully participate and thrive. It emphasizes the recognition of intersectionality and the need to address systemic barriers that hinder the full inclusion and advancement of all women. This theme underscores the transformative power of inclusivity in creating a more equitable and just world for women everywhere.

The Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, with guidance from its Equity and Diversity Committee, supports the ongoing work of organizations and individuals to promote the interests and advancement of women and girls throughout all sectors of society and, in particular, within the legal profession and justice system.
