In response to the public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 18, 2020, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador suspended jury selections and jury trials until further notice. To provide greater certainty for accused persons, the public, and other stakeholders, the Court now issues this further notice.
- Given the ongoing requirements to maintain physical distance and limit gathering sizes, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador will not recommence criminal jury selection or jury trials until September 2020, at the earliest.
- The Court will continue to post further updates and details regarding its operations.
