You can now request the 2021-2022 Cyber Coverage Policy via email at insurance@lsnl.ca.

We encourage members and firms to review and consider all of the insurance policy’s terms and conditions. We also want to remind you of one exclusion in particular:

[The Insurer] shall not be liable for any claim directly or indirectly arising out of:

  • The failure of the…Law Society Member to:
    • Back-up copies of data at least weekly, to store such back-up copies of data offsite, and to test the back-ups annually;
    • Update the Law Society Member computer network with new protection patches, anti-virus software, and anti-spyware within two weeks of critical patches being released; and
    • Install, maintain, and actively monitor, within reasonable business practices, firewalls and endpoint protection on their computer network.

If you would like to purchase additional, dedicated cyber insurance for your firm, CLIA offers a standalone cyber program with limits of up to $2,000,000 across all five cyber coverages. You can contact CLIA via email at service@clia.ca or the general commercial insurance market.

As a reminder, if you are submitting a notice  of a claim, you should contact both CLIA by email at cyberclaims@clia.ca and call 1-833-383-1488 as set out in Cyber Claim Reporting – The Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
