ABSTRACT This webinar is for family law professionals who work with parents experiencing significant conflict in co-parenting and implementing their parenting plan often resulting in continuous court motions.

When children are exposed to ongoing conflict between their parents, they are at risk for social and mental health problems, and may experience more difficulty with their own intimate relationships in the long term.  Parenting coordination can help to reduce parents’ conflict and may provide respite for children from exposure to their parents’ conflict.

Parenting coordination combines education, coaching, mediation and where necessary secondary arbitration to interpret the parenting plan related to day-to-day decisions. The Parenting Coordinator provides information, effective tools and strategies for parents to improve their co-parent dynamic and communication to provide parents and children some respite from conflict. In some cases, the role of the parenting coordinator is to disengage the parents completely.

Borzou Tabrizi Borzou brings his years of family law experience to his work as a family mediator, arbitrator and parenting coordinator. He has worked for many years with Toronto Family Mediation Service at Toronto’s Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice, helping high-conflict and distressed parties resolve difficult matters.

Borzou is an affordable, no-nonsense parenting coordinator, with excellent experience arbitrating difficult matters and de-escalating emergencies. His clients appreciate his even-handed and compassionate approach, even in the toughest cases. Borzou is a skilled and fair arbitrator when adjudication is required.

Fluently bilingual in Farsi and English, Borzou brings a warm and tenacious approach to his work. He knows from experience that good faith negotiation can save families thousands of dollars in legal fees, allow relationships to mend and achieve durable settlements that benefit families.

As a family lawyer running his own practice, Borzou handles all family law matters with an emphasis on his top skill: negotiation and settlement.

He leads the Family Law Course at Riverdale and is a mediation coach for the York University Certificate in Family Mediation program.
