Ten new King’s Counsel will be sworn in at a Ceremony to be held 4 September 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The Honourable Raymond P. Whalen, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, will preside at the Ceremony.
The Letters Patent appointing the ten new King’s Counsel will be read and the Oaths and Affirmations will be administered to each new King’s Counsel. Chief Justice Whalen will then invite each new King’s Counsel to the Inner Bar.
The King’s Counsel Ceremony will take place in Courtroom No. 1 at the Courthouse, 309 Duckworth Street, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Those appointed to King’s Counsel are Richard Collins, Helen Conway Ottenheimer, John C. Crosbie, Herbert Edwards, James Goudie, John Hartery, Karen O’Reilly, Deanne Penney, Gerrie Smith, and David Williams.
