Who should attend: Personal injury litigators, both plaintiff and defence, personal injury paralegals, insurance industry personnel
Learning level: All levels
With the expanded jurisdiction of the Civil Resolution Tribunal, the personal injury landscape in BC continues to evolve, but this does not mean that personal injury practice is about to disappear anytime soon. Cases in the pipeline will continue to be litigated and questions of law and practice will continue to be important. If you are a personal injury litigator—this conference is still your must-attend event of the year.
As with past conferences, the centrepiece will be the comprehensive Murray Jamieson case law and legislation update. Rounding out this year’s program are sessions on sexual assault civil claims, class actions, mediation/arbitration, PI and the CRT, sports and torts, loss of capacity, direct examination of the plaintiff, and, six months before trial, what you should be doing to prepare.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
Course Chairs
Krista L. Simon — Hammerco Lawyers LLP, Vancouver
