There are seemingly an unlimited number of ways to organize a firm and, once it starts to grow, it may be time to consider a branch office. However, before that new office is opened, keep in mind that section 78 of the Law Society Act, 1999 prohibits opening or maintaining a branch office unless the office is under the personal and actual control of a member in good standing. In addition, a member in good standing must manage the office.
