LSNL Aboriginal/Indigenous Law Collection
In keeping with the Law Society’s strategic goal to promote reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, our Law Library is working with the Law Society’s Indigenous Education and Action Committee to update and expand the library’s holdings of available appropriate and relevant texts in the field of Aboriginal/Indigenous law. We also recently received some key donations related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
Please note that, in keeping with the guidance of the TRC, respect for Indigenous peoples of Canada, and recent developments in library cataloguing, the Law Library uses the preferred terms of Native Peoples and Indigenous Peoples for subject headings in our catalogue. However, the current terminology in law, publishing, and library sciences remains as “Aboriginal law”, so you will continue to see this term used in commercial titles, our policy documents, and the call number guidelines.
