World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) – March 21, 2023
The Newfoundland and Labrador Down Syndrome Society invites you to participate in celebrations and fundraising for World Down Syndrome Day 2023.
World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is on Tuesday March 21st, 2023. On this day we ask you to wear #LotsOfSocks, an initiative that symbolizes the extra chromosome (which looks a lot like socks) in people with Down syndrome. Down Syndrome International has chosen the theme #WithUsNotForUs for WDSD 2023 to emphasize the importance of including people with Down syndrome in important decision-making that impacts their wellbeing.
You’re invited to join in on celebrating people with Down syndrome in our communities by wearing your funky, colorful socks, and leading conversations with your team/staff to promote a better understanding of Down syndrome. We ask you to further reflect on how you as a business/organization can be more inclusive and become better advocates for people with Down syndrome.
Consider hosting a fundraiser or making a donation on behalf of your business/organization to the Newfoundland and Labrador Down Syndrome Society in recognition of WDSD. These donations will greatly benefit the lives of people with Down syndrome of all ages, across our province by helping fund our provision of necessary therapies, services, and social events for our members. We cannot do all of this without your help!
Please share photos of your celebrations with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtags above. Thank you in advance for your support!
