First Nation Land Governance Registry (FNLGR) Open House
The First Nation Land Governance Registry (FNLGR) and Angie Derrickson, FNLGR Registrar, are pleased to announce the upcoming First Nation Land Governance Registry (FNLGR) Open House.
The Lands Advisory Board and First Nations Land Management Resource Centre, in partnership with the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA), are collaborating to develop the new FNLGR. This registry aims to establish a First Nation-controlled, independent land registry for Operational First Nations under the Framework Agreement and participating Self-Governing First Nations. With initial operations planned for late 2025, the registry’s development has greatly benefitted from input provided by First Nation Land Offices, especially those who use the current system daily.
Three regional open house sessions will be hosted to engage land governance professionals, legal experts, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders. These events will highlight the progress of the registry, showcase its enhanced capabilities, and provide opportunities for attendees to offer feedback to further support land governance and economic development on First Nation lands across Canada. Additionally, the sessions will present the initial draft regulations governing the registry’s operations, a topic of particular interest to legal and financial professionals.
