Memorial University Updates MBA and GDBA Admission Criteria

Effective immediately, applicants who meet certain standards, including holding an undergraduate business degree from Memorial University or specific professional designations, such as a Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB), will no longer be required to write the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) to be eligible for Memorial’s MBA program.

An MBA degree is widely recognized for offering higher earning potential, greater career advancement, and more diverse career opportunities. It may be particularly beneficial to professionals who run their own firms or hold management positions in various organizations.

Changes have also been made to the admission criteria for the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA). This program serves as a pathway to the MBA, with all five of its courses counting toward the degree. A minimum GPA of 2.75 will now be required for students from Memorial or other AACSB-accredited institutions, while all other applicants must meet a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The GDBA, which does not require the GMAT, consists of five courses, all of which contribute toward the MBA degree. With careful course planning, the program may be completed online.

Memorial University recognizes its important role in developing the talent pool for businesses, organizations, and governments in the province. As such, the university remains committed to making its high-quality programs more accessible to a greater number of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians while maintaining the rigorous academic standards expected of MBA students.
