Two-Eared Listening Classroom Resource Kit – In Recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

In recognition of the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30), Relationships First NL is pleased to share the Two-Eared Listening Classroom Resource Kit. While this resource connects to September 30, it is meant to be engaged with at any time of year.

This kit, inspired by the teaching of Chief Mi’sel Joe of Miawpukek First Nation, invites us to listen with both our ears and our hearts. It includes lesson plans for early learning through grade 12, posters, reflection tools, and suggested resources. Each activity can be adapted across ages, contexts, and communities.

We hope this resource supports educators, facilitators, and caregivers to feel brave and intentional in conversations about reconciliation, especially in today’s complex political climate. We encourage you to:

  • Print and post the Two-Eared Listening posters as a daily reminder.
  • Adapt the lessons flexibly. What is written for one grade level may also resonate with younger or older learners.
  • Reflect personally on what Two-Eared Listening and reconciliation mean for you, not only as educators but as individuals.
  • Share with families and caregivers. This work belongs to all of us.

The resource is available today as a downloadable PDF (attached), and soon it will be hosted on our website (www.rfnl.org) as a living, dynamic document.
