The Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking expressions of interest from members in filling a vacancy on Benchers. The Law Society Act, 1999, provides that when a Bencher resigns Benchers must appoint a person to fill the vacancy until the next election. Any member in good standing, practicing, and residing in Labrador who is interested should submit his/her name and a short synopsis outlining his/her qualifications by Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Subject to eligibility Benchers will appoint one of these individuals to fill the vacancy until June 2014, upon which time the person appointed can stand for election for a four year term.
