Position: Paralegal
Location: 5 Hallett Crescent, Unit 4, St. John’s, NL A1B 4C4
Budden Hiscock Lawyers is a leading civil litigation firm with a focus on personal injury and representing survivors of abuse. We also offer general legal services, including wills & estates and real estate. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented paralegal to provide essential support to our team of nine lawyers.
Responsibilities
• Assist in drafting pleadings, applications, affidavits, and other legal documents
• Perform legal research and retrieve and prepare summaries of case law and statutes
• Coordinate and manage document production, disclosure, and evidence organization
• Maintain and update case files, both physical and digital, ensuring all materials are accurate and complete
• Communicate with clients, court staff, and other parties as required, with professionalism and sensitivity
• Help manage calendars, deadlines, and court filings
Qualifications
• Certificate/diploma from a Paralegal program
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe
• Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact compassionately with clients, many of whom may have experienced trauma
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively while maintaining a high degree of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
