About Our Opportunity

These positions are based in the Western Region and report to the Chief Crown Attorney, Western Region, to whom the incumbent is accountable for the provision of competent prosecution services. The Crown Attorney will advise law enforcement agencies when requested. Key responsibilities include conducting prosecutions arising from matters within the PPS mandate resulting from law enforcement investigations, as well as performing other duties as directed by the Chief Crown Attorney.

Qualifications and Experience

You are a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society (or eligible to become so) with a thorough understanding of the prosecution process and demonstrated competence in criminal procedure, evidence, and substantive criminal law. A minimum of one (1) year of criminal litigation experience is required. Experience in Provincial/Territorial or Superior Court (or equivalent courts in other jurisdictions) is considered an asset. Travel throughout the province may be required, including for extended periods. Successful applicants may be required to provide a current Certificate of Standing from their law society for all jurisdictions of membership. Qualifications will be assessed through written materials (CV/Resume), interviews, and reference checks.

Additional Information

This is a term position with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2028. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required, as travel throughout the region and across the province is necessary.

Pay Grade: CA – CA
Salary Range: $3,568.55 – $7,547.03 bi-weekly
