Supreme Court Notice

SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR (FAMILY DIVISION)
NOTICE TO THE PROFESSION AND GENERAL PUBLIC
NEXT COURT DATE – ST. JOHN’S FAMILY DIVISION

Beginning 1 June 2026, the St. John’s Family Division will discontinue sending formal notices of court dates to parties and lawyers when a subsequent appearance is scheduled from an in-person hearing.

It is expected that Counsel will keep their own record of the next appearance date; however, where a self-represented party is present at the Court hearing, they will be provided with a Next Court Date Reminder Form at the appearance’s conclusion.

Should a self-represented party not be present at an appearance, the Registry will send formal notice of the next Court date to that party. The notice will be sent to the most recent mailing address or email address that the party has on file.

If you have a matter at the St. John’s Family Division and you are uncertain of your next Court date, it is your responsibility to contact the Registry at the St. John’s Family Division to confirm any upcoming date(s) and/or refer to the Court docket by referencing your court file number.
