Amendments to Law Society Rule 6.10 – Appearances by Students
Benchers have approved amendments to Law Society Rule 6.10 – Appearances by Students which can be viewed here.
The amendment clarifies that a hybrid offence is treated as a summary conviction offence for the purposes of Rule 6.10 once the Crown elects to proceed summarily. This removes uncertainty about the scope of Student appearances in those matters and confirms that the broader authority applicable to summary conviction offences applies.
