We have been asked by the Newfoundland and Labrador Legal Aid Commission to circulate the following information to our membership.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Legal Aid Commission is sometimes asked to provide legal services to person’s whose principal language is French. The Commission has a few French speaking lawyers on staff but they are not always available when a request for French language service comes into the office. Therefore the Commission is seeking to put together a list of lawyers in the Province who are fluent in French and who are willing to take a Legal Aid certificate to assist French speaking persons. The services which may be required can range from basic advice on the phone, doing a bail hearing, or even conducting a trial.
