The Newfoundland and Labrador Access to Justice Steering Committee celebrates volunteerism in the legal community during Volunteer Week 2018

The Newfoundland and Labrador Access to Justice Steering Committee is proud to celebrate volunteerism in the legal community and mark the success of local pro bono legal assistance clinics during Volunteer Week 2018.

Since 2016, five pro bono legal assistance clinics have been established, the Small Claims Legal Assistance Clinic, Court of Appeal Legal Assistance Clinic, Access Law Clinic, Gathering Place Legal Assistance Clinic, and the Choices for Youth Legal Assistance Clinic.

Combined to date the five clinics have assisted 267 participants, supported by 61 volunteer lawyers, articling students and law students, totaling 212 hours of pro bono legal service to the community.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Access to Justice Steering Committee and its member groups extend sincere thanks to all volunteers who have participated in these valuable initiatives.
