Call for Board Members – Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood – Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Health Centre (PPNLSHC) is looking to fill two vacancies on its Board of Directors. Apply to join an enthusiastic and dedicated group of volunteers committed to promoting positive sexual health and 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in the province!
At PPNLSHC we know we are stronger through diversity. We aim to attract, develop and retain Board members with a range of expertise, experience, skills and backgrounds as to best reflect and serve the community. Since we primarily conduct our work virtually, we encourage applications from anywhere in the province.
We are committed to promoting equity on our Board. Therefore, preference will be given to people who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, a person of colour, a person with a visible or invisible disability, as well as people who have faced other systemic barriers, marginalization and oppression. We also encourage those with non-traditional education and experience to apply. Applicants are welcome to self-identify any experiences or identities that they feel may be relevant.
We are looking for people who will:
- Act in the best interests of PPNLSHC and the community we serve
- Demonstrate, through their words and actions, a genuine commitment to PPNLSHC’s mission and values
- Prepare for and attend Board meetings
- Serve on a committee of the Board
- Maintain a willingness to enhance their skills as a Director and learn more about sexual health and 2SLGBTQIA+ issues
Directors serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-election. New Directors will be elected by members of the organization at the Annual General Meeting, expected to occur in late fall 2022. Applicants will be screened in advance by the Board’s Governance Committee, who will make recommendations to the PPNLSHC members before the meeting.
If you would like to be considered for our Board, please email directors@ppnlshc.com to express your interest and describe what you could bring to the Board.
