Court of Appeal Operations

In response to the current Covid-19 situation and the need for increased precautions for the resumption of in-person hearings, the Court of Appeal courtroom has been retrofitted with plexiglass partitions. The partitions allow for protection on the judges’ bench, counsel tables, and the court officer’s work station.

This enhanced protection along with the health and safety protocols already in place, will permit in-person hearings to resume on March 16, 2021. All affected parties will be notified by the Registry. Appearances by teleconference and videoconference remain available.

Members of the media and the public may continue to observe hearings by teleconference or videoconference. Interested parties may continue to contact the Registry for assistance by email at coaregistry@appeal.court.nl.ca or by telephone at (709) 729-0066.

Updates will be provided on the court’s website at www.court.nl.ca/appeal or on Twitter @nlcaupdates.

The Court will continue to monitor public health advice from the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Covid-19 situation and will adjust its operations as necessary. Notices will appear on the Court’s website.
