About Our Opportunity

This position is based in the Western Region and reports to the Chief Crown Attorney, Western Region. The incumbent is accountable for providing competent prosecution services and will advise law enforcement agencies when requested.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting the prosecution of charges resulting from matters within the Public Prosecution Service mandate.

  • Handling prosecutions and duties as directed by the Chief Crown Attorney, Western Region.

Qualifications and Experience

  • You must be a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society (or eligible to become one).

  • You must have a thorough understanding of the prosecution process, with competence in criminal procedures, evidence, and substantive criminal law.

  • You must have at least one (1) year of significant criminal litigation experience.

  • You may be required to travel throughout the province to prosecute cases, including extended periods of travel.

  • Successful applicants may be required to provide a current Certificate of Standing from their law society, including all jurisdictions where they are members (practicing or non-practicing).

These qualifications will be assessed using one or more of the following tools:

Salary & Employment Details

Pay Grade: CA – CA
Salary Range: $3,639.93 – $7,697.97 Bi-Weekly
