About the Opportunity

These positions, based in the Halifax Region, report to the Chief Crown Attorney, Halifax Region. The Crown Attorney provides legal advice to law enforcement and prosecutes cases within the PPS mandate, as well as other duties as directed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • You must be a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society (or eligible for membership).
  • Minimum of two years’ full-time experience as a Crown Attorney with expertise in criminal procedure, evidence, and substantive law.
  • Ability to travel throughout the province for extended periods, as required.
  • Successful applicants may be required to provide a current Certificate of Standing from their law society.

Assessments may include written exams, standardized tests, oral presentations, interviews, and reference checks.

Salary Range:
$3,185.77 – $5,877.68 Bi-Weekly
(Pay Grade: CA 01 – SCA 10)

Additional Information

  • This is a permanent position based in Dartmouth.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation for travel throughout the region and province.
  • The current salary contract with NSCAA expired in April 2023, and salary negotiations are ongoing.
