The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses is seeking a lawyer for in-house Legal Counsel.
Reporting to the CEO/Registrar, Legal Counsel provides a wide range of legal services and advice to the College relating to the governance of the nursing profession. The position will also represent the College at hearings, deliver legal advice during investigations and in other administrative / regulatory processes, including legal research, policy advice and other assistance as needed.
The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:
- A law degree and membership in good standing of the Law Society of NL
- A minimum of 3-5 years of post-Bar private, corporate in-house or government legal practice, with experience in Administrative law
- Experience appearing before administrative tribunals and/or court.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
This is a permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week. The College offers an attractive compensation package that includes a competitive salary, comprehensive health and dental benefits, and the Government of NL pension plan.
The salary range for this position is $117,175 to $152,327.
