Expressions of Interest – Chairperson of the Financial Services Appeal Board
We have been asked by the Department of Service NL to circulate the following request to our membership.
Service NL, a department in the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is circulating an interesting opportunity to Chair the Financial Services Appeal Board under the mandate of the Minister of Service NL, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Financial Services Appeal Board hears appeals from a person who may, in accordance with a particular Act of the province, have the right to appeal an original order or decision to the board under the Financial Services Appeal Board Act. Members of the Financial Services Appeal Board meet when they have an appeal to be heard. The number of meetings can vary depending on the number of appeals filed. Over the last two years, the Financial Services Appeal Board has only met twice. Hearings usually last 2-4 hours but the writing of decisions after the hearings can take a day or two depending on the issues. Appointments are for a term of 3 years and appointees are eligible for reappointment.
