Gathering/Conference on Understanding Restorative Justice in Newfoundland and Labrador

The Miawpukek First Nation, Relationships First – Restorative Justice Consortium and Memorial University are hosting a three-day gathering/conference called “Two-Eared Listening for Deeper Understanding: Restorative Justice in Newfoundland and Labrador.”

The event will take place online and in-person at the Signal Hill Campus of Memorial University in St. John’s on the following dates:

  • Thursday, November 18, 2021: 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM NT;
  • Friday, November 19, 2021: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM NT; and
  • Saturday, November 20, 2021: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM NT.

The event will focus on deep listening to Indigenous experiences of justice and injustice; increasing understanding of past and present nation-to-nation relationships in Newfoundland and Labrador; strengthening knowledge and practice of relational, restorative justice; and, discussing the Truth & Reconciliation Commission recommendations 27, 28, 31, 42, and 60-63.
