How to Show Up in a Way That Matters by ACHIEVE Centre for Leadership
Our world is in constant flux—with round-the-clock news and social media, it’s easy to feel like uncertainty is ever-present.
If you manage a team, how you respond to this uncertainty can either add to your team’s stress or create stability and focus. Here are five strategies to reduce the impact of uncertainty:
- Stay mission-focused. Grounding your team in your organization’s mission and vision will keep them connected to meaningful work.
- Stay calm. Your team looks to you, so find ways to process your stress away from them and provide reassurance.
- Communicate realistically. Create a plan with your team based on clear, honest information, focusing on strengths.
- Take the long view. Visualize your organization’s future beyond today’s challenges and work towards it.
- Lead with empathy. Recognize your team’s stress, offer support, listen actively, and make resources available.
