International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on 3 December was proclaimed in 1992 and aims to promote an understanding of disability issues while mobilizing support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities.
This year’s theme is Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future. Disability inclusion is essential to upholding human rights, sustainable development, and peace and security. IDPD reaffirms the commitment to acknowledging the rights of persons with disabilities as not only a matter of justice but an investment in a common future.
