Journey Project to Translate Legal Publications to Different Languages
The Journey Project has received new funding to support survivors of sexual violence and intimate partner violence in marginalized populations such as Indigenous and newcomer communities.
Janet Lee, coordinator with the Journey project, says they have helped hundreds of survivors navigate their way through the legal system since being formed seven years ago. With the new money, they will be translating many of their publications into languages that will be more accessible to newcomer and Indigenous communities.
They will be translating the entire website into French so it will be available in both official languages. The majority of legal publications will be translated into Arabic, Ukrainian and some Indigenous languages including Inuktitut.
Lee says access to justice is a real issue for many people in the province.
The money comes through a partnership with the Department of Women and Gender Equality.
