Lecture – Navigating Newfoundland’s 18th & 19th Century Court System
Christopher Curran, SS Daisy Legal History Committee member, will present a lecture on the development of the courts and how the machinery of the law played a significant role in the growth of community life in Newfoundland.
The talk will focus on the period 1750-1830 and will look at the Court Minute Book Records for the Sessions and the Surrogate Courts at Harbour Grace and the Supreme Court at St. John’s and on Circuit to Ferryland.
