LSNL Recognizes German Heritage Month
With more than three million people across Canada, Canadians of German origin make up one of the country’s largest cultural communities. In fact, outside Germany, the largest Oktoberfest is in Kitchener, Ontario (formerly Berlin) and surrounding cities in Waterloo Region, attracting over 700,000 visitors annually.
It seems fitting that October is recognized as German Heritage Month – a time to reflect on the contributions that Canadians with German heritage have made to our communities. German Canadians have played, and continue to play, a vital role in the growth and development of our society, particularly in the arts, sciences, sports and business.
During German Heritage Month, we invite all Canadians to learn more about German culture in Canada.
