Due to an administrative error which occurred in December 2017, the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador in that month published on the Lawyer Directory section of its website that Mr. Michael Laurie, who previously practiced law in the St. John’s area, had been disbarred.  The Law Society acknowledges that this was an inaccurate description of Mr. Laurie’s standing with the Law Society.  The Law Society sincerely apologizes to Mr. Laurie for any distress or embarrassment this may have caused.

The Law Society was made aware of the error in March 2018 and immediately retracted the posting.
