Notice from the Court of Appeal: New Court Rules
New Court of Appeal of Appeal rules (for civil and criminal appeals) come into force on September 4, 2025. They were published in the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette on June 6, 2025 and come into force 90 days later.
Proceedings commenced, but not completed, prior to the coming into force of the new rules shall be governed by the new rules without prejudice to anything lawfully done under the former rules.
Any documents filed prior to September 4, 2025, which are in compliance with the current rules, are sufficient and do not need to be re-filed. Any documents filed on September 4, 2025 or later should be in compliance with the new rules.
