Notice to All Members: Launch of the Gladue Writer Pilot Project
We are pleased to announce the creation of the Gladue Writer Pilot Project, a new initiative aimed at providing enhanced access to Gladue reports for Indigenous persons being sentenced in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Defense lawyers and Crown attorneys can now request a Gladue report through the Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network (NAWN). NAWN has set up a secured portal on their website where you can easily submit a request. This portal ensures that all requests are promptly directed to the Project Manager, who will then assign them to one of the two staff Gladue writers based in Stephenville and Goose Bay or to one of the 10 roster writers located throughout the province.
To request a Gladue report, please visit the secured portal at: https://www.nawn-nf.com/gladue.
For any questions or further information, please contact Audrey Lucas at Manager.Gladue@gmail.com or call 709-643-8488.
We encourage all members to make use of this important resource and support this initiative to ensure fair and culturally informed sentencing for Indigenous persons in our justice system.
