The Government of Canada has launched an open, competency-based selection process to fill the Chairperson position of the board of directors of The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited.
The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited is a Crown corporation responsible for the oversight of Canadian federal interests in 4 of the 11 international toll bridges that connect Ontario to Michigan and New York in the United States:
- Blue Water Bridge (Point Edward);
- Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge (Sault Ste. Marie);
- Seaway International Bridge (Cornwall);
- Thousand Islands International Bridge (Lansdowne).
Its mandate is to provide stewardship of international bridges and associated structures to ensure their safety and efficiency.
The Chairperson leads the Board who is responsible for overseeing the Corporation’s governance, strategic direction, and overall performance. The Chair ensures effective stewardship of public assets by monitoring financial management, risk oversight, and organizational results, while holding the CEO accountable for operational performance. The role also includes upholding high standards of ethics and compliance, supporting strong board governance practices, and maintaining appropriate communication with the Minister and key stakeholders.
