Canada Post Corporation (Canada Post) is a federal Crown corporation that is mandated to provide high-quality postal services that meet the needs of all Canadians including individuals and businesses, in a secure and financially self-sustaining manner. The Canada Post Corporation has one subsidiary; Purolator Holdings Ltd. Canada Post is evolving quickly with more than 50% of revenues coming from competitive products. In many rural and remote communities throughout the country, the post office remains as the single point of physical connection to the rest of Canada and beyond.

In September 2025, the Government announced a series of measures to help stabilize the corporation’s finances and enable its transformation, while noting that leadership and structural change from within the corporation would be essential to ensure its survival of and protect the services Canadians rely on. The announced measures represent a necessary first step to transform the corporation, while providing an opportunity to adapt to demographic changes, employ new technologies, and respond to the evolving expectations of its customers and the communities it serves.

The President of Canada Post is one of Canada’s most complex leadership positions. The President reports to the board of directors, which in turn reports to Parliament through the Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement, and works with the board and the Government of Canada in setting the corporation’s objectives and broad policies. The President is the Chief Executive Officer and will play a primary leadership role in operationalizing Canada Post’s transformation. The President has general oversight of the business and is accountable for its financial sustainability. The responsibilities include the development of operating and capital plans and budgets, building strategic alliances, creating an organizational culture and values that are dynamic and entrepreneurial to adapt to the rapidly changing digital environment and increased competition in the parcel industry, recommending changes in rates, and engaging with the board on various other matters. The President is also responsible for developing and implementing progressive human resources strategies, ensuring a solid labour management relationship, establishing measures of corporate performance, leading a highly competent team, and ensuring the corporation’s compliance with the Canada Post Corporation Act, the Financial Administration Act and other applicable legislation, as well as the Canadian Postal Service Charter.
