PLIAN Mock Trial Competition – Call For Volunteers

With funding support from the American College of Trial Lawyers (Canadian Foundation), PLIAN is proud to launch a new mock trial competition for high school students. This competition will culminate with mock trials involving several high schools from across the province on Monday, 5 May 2025, at 2:30 PM at the Supreme Court, General Division in St. John’s.

To make this initiative a success, PLIAN is inviting active and retired lawyers and judges to volunteer as adjudicators. Your experience and insight can have a lasting impact. As a volunteer, you’ll provide valuable feedback and guidance to students as they develop their advocacy skills in a real courtroom setting.

A reception will follow at the Law Society Building on the 3rd floor to celebrate the students’ efforts and the generous volunteers who make events like this possible.

Your support can make a meaningful impact. If you are interested in volunteering for this event to help strengthen legal education and build students’ confidence in the courtroom, please contact PLIAN’s Access to Justice Coordinator and the Project Coordinator for this initiative, Sara Hawkins, at sara@publiclegalinfo.com or (709) 722-2643.
