Provincial Court – Extension of Time Order
Re: Emergency Requirement to Extend Time Periods Prescribed Under the Rules

WHEREAS on the 16th day of March, 2020 the Pandemic of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 required that certain procedures be taken to reduce or close certain services otherwise being offered by the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador;
AND WHEREAS the current emergent circumstances relating to COVID-19 have temporarily impeded the ability of counsel, litigants, witnesses, accused persons and others in the performance of their duties and obligations under the Rules by which the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador operates;
THEREFORE, pursuant to the Rules of the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in Criminal Proceedings, Small Claims Rules and Family Rules;
IT IS ORDERED that all periods requiring or authorizing a person to do or abstain from doing any act or taking any step in proceedings, including periods of service, filing, or exchange of documents or reports, are hereby extended from March 16, 2020 through and including June 26, 2020.
