Statement on the Kamloops Residential School
The Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador joins the nation in mourning and remembering the 215 Indigenous children whose remains were recently discovered on the grounds of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. The Law Society is committed to implementing the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to ensure that the history of indigenous peoples is known and their voices are heard. Our thoughts are with the families, communities, survivors, and all those who continue to live with the trauma inflicted by the residential school system.
