Survey for Circulation
As you may already be aware, the Law Society created the Indigenous Education and Action Committee in 2017. The mandate of the Indigenous Education and Action Committee is to “work within the legal profession to advise, educate and act on reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Newfoundland and Labrador, which includes addressing the Calls to Action arising from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission”.
The Indigenous Education and Action Committee is undertaking a survey of members of the Law Society for the purpose of gathering information from the membership that will assist the Committee in advancing its mandate. Specifically, the Committee is seeking input from Law Society members that will:
a) assist us in understanding the level of knowledge within the membership about Indigenous populations in Newfoundland and Labrador;
b) identify the amount of Aboriginal law practiced by Law Society members;
c) help us to identify areas where professional education and cultural awareness is needed as it relates to the provision of legal services to Indigenous people/organizations; and,
d) identify members of the Law Society that have an interest in assisting the Indigenous Education & Action Committee in advancing its mandate.
The Indigenous Education and Action Committee is respectfully requesting that you take a few minutes of your valuable time to complete our survey, which can be found by clicking this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DMKLM6Z. Every response is important to us and we thank you for your time and your feedback.
