The Cupids Historical Society 2026 Water Witch Annual Lecture – The Catherine Snow Story
Join the Cupids Historical Society on 29 & 30 August for the 2026 Water Witch Annual Lecture, THE CATHERINE SNOW STORY (the last woman hanged in Newfoundland). A fascinating two-event weekend awaits exploring one of Newfoundland’s most compelling historical stories.
The first event will take place on Saturday, August 29 at 6:00 pm at the Cupids Legacy Centre. Following a delicious three-course dinner, there will be special guest speakers, including Mary Snow, the great-great-great-granddaughter of Catherine & John Snow.

The second event will take place on Sunday, August 30 at 2:00 pm in the Cupids United Church (located beside the Legacy Centre) with a panel discussion featuring John Brooks, lawyer; Mary Snow, descendant; Nellie Strowbridge, author; Jeff Webb, historian; and Jacquey Ryan, facilitator.
