Are you passionate about helping young people and supporting restorative justice? The St. John’s Youth Justice Committee is looking for dedicated volunteers!

About Us
The St. John’s Youth Justice Committee operates under the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development. We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers committed to providing alternatives to the court system for youth aged 12 to 18 through Extra Judicial Sanctions, as authorized by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Our goal is to help young people make amends for the harm done to the community by facilitating restorative justice between youth and victims.

What We Do

  • Screen Referrals: We carefully review referrals to our program.
  • Develop Programs: We create youth-specific programming to meet the unique needs of each individual.
  • Restorative Justice: We work to repair the harm caused by youth through restorative practices, involving both the youth and the victims.

Why Volunteer with Us?

  • Make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
  • Gain valuable experience in youth justice and restorative practices.
  • Be part of a dynamic and supportive team.

  • Experience working with youth is an asset.
  • All volunteers must undergo a Child Protection Clearance Check and Criminal Records Screening Certificate/Vulnerable Sector Check.
